Cleaning F%$&*ng carbon deposits from my Semi auto

What can i use to get rid of stubborn carbon deposits from the slide of my franchi, ive used 009 and its took a bit off but i dont want to start with wire wool incase i damage the stainless steel?

 

Love the gun but trying to keep it clean is a nightmare
