darkwood 41
ferreting in upper teesdale today ,and had it much easier than of late, simply because the feilds have dried out enough to get the landy near the setts.i ended the day about 3ish and caught a dozen, i had one shallow dig that got me 2 rabbits, the new mk3 is starting to pay its way. any way i bumped into the farmer whose daughter is married to a keeper, and he told me that at bolton abbey estates they set the box traps for the fist time this season and took 1400 yes fourteen hundred rabbits the first night Quote Link to post
DeepEarth 104
They bred well there this season on the little patch I ferret, didn't have bad numbers. Quote Link to post
darkwood 41
yeah, the farmer said the keepers have done no rabbit control this winter until now.Could they be treating the rabbits as a crop rather than a pest Quote Link to post
DeepEarth 104
Very much doubt it, think they'll have more important things to be on with. Quote Link to post
mhopton 807
That's a lot of rabbits I don't no much about box traps but thought they only hold one maybe two rabbits or can you get them a lot bigger ? Upper tees dale I've got some good land up that way that's been flooded really bad over last 2-3 month Quote Link to post
darkwood 41
I dont know much about box traps myself mate, but ive seen eleven taken from one. apparently theres well over a hundred traps at bolton ,and the guy who told me is as honest as the days long, things have certainly dried up on my spot at teesdale, rabbits are back in setts that they havnt used for months, and i can get about in the landrover without ploughing the fields Quote Link to post
