patterdalejoel 669
i remeber my first trio, never laid any amount of eggs for me or went broody, sold em to a lad, first thing they did was lay a clutch each and sit and hatche the lot!
RubyTex 1,957
Shit luck that Joel! The fella i bought them off went you'll get some chicks off them this year...a month later they started sitting, both laid in the same nest box and both sat for the full term in that box?? Who was i to disturb them lol hatched 4 hens and 1 cock bird the cock is a beauty, really nice plumage on him i'll try get a picture. Them young uns are about 6 months old now and had 7 eggs off them so far is that a decent return? Suppose it is winter.... RT

Half a dozen light sussex banties? Aye i got told they should lay every two to three days, had another two eggs this morning though so that's 9 eggs in 11 days since they started popping them out. After i got into it a family friend got hooked and loved the Sussex plumage etc, bearing in mind i paid £20 for my 1 year old trio, he got stung by some fella for £60 on a couple of old hens that never laid and a cock bird that seemed to be firing blanks even with some younger hens he bought in told him to take me along!!!
