scothunter 12,609
its no great suprise tbh. they did it with cannabis, spent all this money on a big enquiry, and the goverment just did there own thing anyway. the british people are remarkble nation, and our achievments speak volumes, and no one can question our back bone.i just wonder why we are so submissive when it comes to those that govern us.lets face it we do put up with some shit.lol
paulus 26
the media has always had the power to make or break politicians, no way on this earth will they give up this power and personally i dont think they should, we already have laws that protect agains liable ect so why should the press be subject to what would in essence a be a goverment censered media, the phone hacking scandel was covered by existing laws, its the corruption that needs to be addressed
Malt 379
Heard Kelvin Mckenzie on the news earlier, his arguments against the proposals were very weak and sounded like the extreme case sensationalist bollocks you'd associate anything that has his name attached to with.. Like others have said in interviews, it wouldn't make a bit of difference free speech, it would just ensure that the papers play by the rules and maybe go some way towards them making sure they have the full facts and there is at least an element of truth about a story before they print stuff that is potentially damaging.. They twist the 'freedom of the press' mantra to suit their own needs and agendas as things stand..
scothunter 12,609
ah but there not taking away that right.thats just scaremongering on the papers behalf.our papers have always sailed close to the wind, and we lapped it up,and took pride in there reputation world wide, but there f*****g out of control now.theres digging dirt to expose wrong doing and corruption, and thats spot on.however they are responsible for peoples deaths and just sheer muck raking.how much of that blame goes to us,im not sure, cause lots loved all that shitty gossip.
