Brian-911 210
Well my bitch had her first season and the inverted vulva hasn't popped out after. I know one of the complications with this is they can get bladder infections but shes been fine with that so far what I'm wondering now is, if in a few years time I decided I wanted to breed her would this be possible or not ? desertbred 5,490
probably have to do Ai mate and may mean a cesarean for the delivery talk to a good vet they should be able to explain the complications arb
staffyspen 43
Why would you want to breed from her with this obvious defect? Risk the chance of losing the bitch on the table through c section, possibly passing this defect on to offspring?

Risk the chance of losing the bitch on the table through c section, possibly passing this defect on to offspring? Well this is exactly why I'm asking ??? As far as I know it might not even be a problem when breeding...I'm not a vet thats why im asking the question !? If it wouldn't be a straight forward normal birth process I wouldnt breed simple. I chose the bitch with this problem, there was another bitch there that didn't have this problem but I chose her even so knowing that I may not be able to breed and I'm still happy I chose her. Gaz_1989 9,539
Why did you choose a bitch with an obvious physical/medical defect out of interest?
staffyspen 43
I'm not a vet either mate but if it a defect and could cause her problems, no progeny would come from her! I'm not saying she isn't the best bitch on the planet but knowingly picking her with this defect, should have meant you'd know that mating her would be wrong, in my opinion!! I've seen many a litter, not working dogs granted, bein produced by substandard dogs and bitches and the progeny suffer! If it were me, I'd spay and when the time is right for a pup, select more carefully! Thanks Spence
Brian-911 210
Why did you choose a bitch with an obvious physical/medical defect out of interest? Tbh I looked at both the dogs without knowing one had a defect after making my choice the guy said to me if I were you id go for the other one as this one has an inverted vulva. Now to me an inverted vulva doesn't really bother me, ok I have to keep an eye on it and give it a clean every day if she started getting infections. But I chose that dog...and thankfully have had no problems with infections but if I had, I bought the dog willing to deal with that situation so it wouldn't have bothered me. Okay so now I know breeding isn't an option, but I knew that might be the case from the start and I'm fine with that. I just thought I'd ask thats all. I'm more than happy with her that's all that matters
