Returning a second hand gun to a gunshop

Recommended Posts

Thanks for all the help from people i have had on another thread but iv decided to return a second hand Daystate Huntsman MK1 to the gunshop i got it from yesterday. How do i stand with my rights? I don't think i am being unreasonable on closer inspection the scopes knackered it wont zero and quite frankly im done messing with it. The shop wasn't open today or it would already be back there. What do people think will i get my money back?

hi buddy

give them a call, explain the situation! they should offer to fix it under there warranty (if they have one) pretty much sure they should have!

if they offer to fix it and you are not happy with it after it is fixed, then you have a right for your money back, under the consumer rights act

have a look here https://www.gov.uk/c...otection-rights

although its second hand,it should be working perfectly fine! its not so is faulty goods!

but ring them first! is it your local gun shop?

Thanks Davy but i just want my cash back now, do you think i have the right to it back? The gun is Its aesthetically rough but that don't worry me but i did want a workhorse and this isn't one.

hi Sam

yes you should ask for your money back! and you have every right too

If they're half decent at all mate they'll offer to fix it or give you a refund...on the other hand...it is a 2nd hand rifle and he could easily say that it was fine when it left the shop and that you've had a day to mess about with it.

Best thing is be cool and just camly put your point across. If it does go tits up i would tell him you had a mate chrono it and it went over so therefor he sold you an overpowered rifle. I've done it with a mates rifle and the RFD's arse collapsed and he gave a full refund on the spot. The rifle was over at 15.3FPE mind you

get your money back if that was me i would demand my money back like davy said just because its second hand it should still be working good i've had the same problem with a bsa scorpion i brought last year and it was well under power and when i took the stock of it it was well rusty wasn't a happy man. They tried to sort it for me and get rid of the rust but i just said i want my money back. And waited a few months and then brought brand new.You won't expected this from a gun smiths just be careful next time atb
