walshie 2,804
I've decided to buy myself a Tikka T3 lite l/h in .223. One more question. They seem to come with 2 different twist rates in this calibre. 1 in 8" or 1 in 12". What's the difference? Cheers. Quote Link to post
bigears 205
1 in 8 = heaver bullet Quote Link to post
zx10mike 137
as stated if you want to stabelise heavier bullets you need a faster twist .1 in 8 completes a rotation of the bullet in 8" thus spinning faster.this will also stabelise 60 grain bullets but if you want to shoot lighter bullets then 1 in 12 may be more suited. my recomendation 1 in 8 is better, like mine in 223. Generally correct, but it depends sometimes on the make of bullet EG My 204 is a 1 in 12 twist rate, too slow to stabilise a Hornady 40g V Max, but OK for the 32g V Max. However, the 39gr Sierra Blitzking IS stabilised by the existing twist. I reckon I would still go for the 1 in 8 though Skully 1 Quote Link to post
