Seasons in with a bang....

..Well After a "not so long summer " im out rico down to 1lb5 .5/6 and we where away early sat morning to do some ferreting under the hawk,what a cracking start to the season,all the ferretts worked well bolting at least 10-11 bunniess for the hawk,of wich he took 2,one of the bolt and another squatter in a field,i have tried to upload a video but it will not allow me to,hope you guys are having the same luck cant wait for the weekend again

Well we had 3 slips on bunnies and 1 on a hen phessie which my lad missed by about 2 sec it beat him to a blackthorn hedge the kill we had was a cracker tho,it was a slip which my bird took on at 100yds when he caught the bunny it reached another 100yds so in all 200 yds from the slip i only wished we caught it all on camera could not believe it,it does pay to get you hawks fit and if you do get you harris hawks fit nothing is impossible ............... ..

The bird took on the slip behind my mate where you can see the long hedgerow...we paced it out and it was just under 200yds to be correct Cracking Day..i have tried uploading a video but it will not accept it again

Well Tried Our Luck Again Yestarday... Rico caught 2 cock phessies, the first one was in front of us has he was up high on a piece of farm machinery and the cock bird just flew into the yard and my lad was on him like a rocket,caught him after a short flight just over the farm yard,but has i started to run across to "help out" i fell over arse over tit...the cock bird just pulled away thro some pig wire fence leavin Rico with a talon full of feathers ...

 

Half way around the estate we must have seen prob 30+ bunnies but they were just holding too tight to the hedges and no sooner had Rico been sliped on them they were just beating him into the hedge and not presenting themselves for a fair flight.

 

Has we started walking back up a bit of a bank,we could see a hare ! well Rico was off in persuit the hare kept in the middle of the field with Rico to low to the hedge,they must have gone for prob 200 yds maybe more before i could see the smoke from Ricos handbrake ...Hare dropt a gear and was gone

 

Just before we got back to the truck another cock bird got up and Yep...Rico catches him down the ground they go and again a TALLON FULL OF FEATHERS ...caught it in style and i was gutted he just couldnt hold for a split few seconds and having no camera yestarday even more gutted..

 

However thismorning was a little differant i took my bird out for some fitness work and i spotted 2-3 rabbitts down near some fern,so i thought lets have a bash,knowing the rabbitts around my way are Pretty Sharp... cast Rico up in a near by big oak tree where he could get a good view,bang away he goes spots them and closes in on one Bingo lol...i was out my house a total of 1hour 10 mins great exersise and a bonus for my LAD
