pianoman 3,589
Hi Chris. I do actually mate, I use a Deben Tracer lamp that clips via a connector to the scope and that drops my POI a little. I don't use it much nowadays. There's a lad with a 4x4 and a powerful spotlamp I go out shooting with in the autumn/early winter nights. I much prefer to shoot with a second pair of hands directing the beam. All the best mate. thursodog 353
Hi Simon/ Skot. Yeah i didn't bother using the turret the other night it works out at three quarters of a milldot of holdover to hit dead on. I've been having a problem with my short range with my . 25 yards out to 50 fine but anything out to 20 yards is shooting to the left by about half an inch. Checked my mounts checked the reticle is level with the gun, stripped the barrels of off both 80s last night and and made sure they were both identical from the block to the crown and found nothing out of shape. As we say up here TOT HEEDED!!!! Everything looks lovely and straight. Good groups etc, must have checked it about 4 times with a level and plumb and alls well. PAH!!! All the best guys. Chris. I've been reading up on scope misalignment and pellets spiraling and thing it may be either one of them or both. Its really frustrating me as i have checked the bloody scope with a level again and again. None of the write ups explain what i've got as mines is only crap for the first 20 yards, can't even get the pellet on pellet at this meager range yet i get good enough results out to 40 yards. Looks like i'll have to live with it. Edited September 10, 2012 by thursodog Quote Link to post
thursodog 353
Sussed it out me reckons since the choke has been cut off the barrel i reckon the pellets are unstable on their initial exit from the barrel. Easy enough to hold a little right out to 20 and then dead on at longer ranges. Quote Link to post
thursodog 353
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=qm1zFkS3Zts http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&list=ULW9NBzJaOSKU&v=W9NBzJaOSKU Right i've decided to use this guys vids to show the taking apart and assembly of the HW since he makes a great job of it. The photos that follow show me putting the kit into my . I'll try my best to explain what the pics show and armed with the vids it'll hopefully be clear to see how easy it is to do. A wee hint i'd think twice about ever cutting down a barrel, i know i'll never do it as i reckon it does nothing for the performance and may even lessen the accuracy of the gun. Right lets suppose using the vid as a reference that the rifle is in a disassembled state and all parts cleaned ready for assembly, firstly take the piston liner (V-Mach) and insert into the piston , don't take the old liner out as it makes for a nice snug fit for the spring. Remove the old piston seal with a screw driver and fit the new green V-mach one (sorry no pics of this) Next thing to do is simply pop in the new spring, top hat and guide to the piston making sure that there is a light covering of grease on the spring. This is the long fac spring but to be honest its got a bit of a kick and i'm using my sub 12 for hunting as i shoot it more accurately than this beast. The next stage is to insert the internals carefully so as to not damage the piston seal. The vid describes how to lube up everything prior to this stage. The final part of fitting the kit is to simply screw the butt back on and finish the assembly as per the vid. Easy peasy really, sorry about the sh*t pics. Hope this helps anyone who's thinking of having a go for the first time. Atb Chris. P.S. I don't know if you folks can expand the pics, if not and you want to let me know and i'll figure out somit, i don't have much time for computers really.
