Ruger 10/22 Folding stock import

I'm looking at buying a Butler Creek folding stock for a Ruger 10/22.

The Butler Creek website doesn't ship to the U.K. and the only ones I've seen for sale here are either welded open or ridiculously expensive.

My sister lives in California. What would be the legalites involved of her buying one for me and sending it to me as an early Xmas present?

Failing that if we go to see her before Xmas, would I be able to buy one there and bring it back?

Any advice much appreciated.

Its only the stock so just put it in your case or have your sister just post it.

you might want to check the overall length of the gun when fitted cause if when folded the gun not including mod is under 24" then you could be in a world of shite if the plod see it thats why the ones in the uk are welded

A standard 10/22 with 18.5" barrel is 23" from the muzzle to the trigger, so I'm hoping the rest of it would add over an inch. I'll do detailed measurements to be sure though..
