riohog 5,939
a straight collie x might struggle today ,to keep up with a good saluki /or saluki hybrid ,dont think it would have the wind to do it for 3/ 4 good races. ive had a few cvollie x,s that were more than capable of catching the odd daytime hare , some years ago Quote Link to post
skycat 6,174
Wouldn't have the pace either, once it had gone more than a few hundred yards. Many years ago I ran a couple of 1/4 Collie 3/4 Greys and whilst they put up a good show for the first minute or so, they didn't have the legs to go on and kill regularly. They looked quite handy before Christmas, but come January they were struggling on the fens. Once that lactic acid builds up in muscles more designed for sprinting than marathons the hare is away and laughing. Quote Link to post
