Then think about this.

Why was London attacked?

Could it have had something to do with Britains headlong rush to follow George W. Bush into war in Iraq?

A war fabricated on untruths. An unnecessary war.

No, nothing at all or very little IMO. Islamic fundamentalists have had issues with us in the West since way before either gulf war.. Their biggest one is for the continued support for Israel since its creation at the end of WW2, but even then, the hatred hasn't been enough for them not to accept help from the west when it suited both parties and was offered like when the Iraqis were at war with the Iranians and the Afghans were trying to repel the soviets..

Let's not beat about the bush here when talking about the wars in the gulf either: The region is a massive oil producing region and our intervention in places like that and more recently in Libya all help to maintain a stable control of oil for the whole world. Yes it's inevitable that certain companies and a small group of the population will make a lot of profit but we all as end users also profit from having a relatively stable supply of petrol and other petroleum products to go about out lives with. Next time you're at the pump filling up with petrol, spare a thought and remember that the reason there is always petrol available and it isn't twice the price it could be is because countries like ours and the US are prepared to get their hands dirty to ensure it keeps coming for the time being. It also doesn't go unnoticed by the other, major oil producing countries who might be tempted to try holding us to ransom or otherwise decide to start tinkering with the supply..

I don't like it but its the way it is, and until we start moving away from a fossil fuel based economy that's the way it will stay until we start running out. Then it will get a whole lot worse..

Very good post Malt.... I'm afraid it is an un-winnable war, with oil being the sole agenda....

The west needs a foothold in these country's to keep the wheels of life moving, the sacrifice is our lads...friends, husbands, sons, brothers.... Maybe we do follow America, but we have our own agenda too... I can't ever see there being any resolution to the position we now find ourselves in...

Question. Not attack.

Afghanistan was worthwhile, there was reason behind it. And, it would have turned out a lot better had Iraq not happened.

Iraq was a lie, an utter fabrication. A personal and corporate crusade.

Why do you think I am on the attack? I am not, and I had hoped I would not have to point that out so bluntly.

Why, instead, don't you ask analyze why what happened happened?

How weak Britain looked blindly following the USA into Iraq.

Not one day of that war was necessary.

Blindness is dangerous. Blindly attacking me, when what I am asking you is, why? What for? What did it accomplish?

Britain became the colony, so people like Tony Blair could grasp the lectern and smile while talking about your special relationship.

If that's special, I wouldn't want to be special.

But, then again, it wasn't him getting shot at or blown up.

"Not in vain". Really.... ?

What does that make "I'm"?

. Iraq op desert storm was to liberate. An invaded territory was it not under the un directive , the second i agree was under false pretence , Afghanistan. Again under un directive this does not mean i agree with deployment of uk armed forces But i support them , my point in mentioning your own past governments . Wrong doing was to remind you all government have and will commit wrong and its up to the people of every nation to be vigilant were possible , uk armed forces are there for different reasons i a not blind to the facts john but maybe your own country should do more in the so called policing of the worlds hot spots of repression and humanitarian aid , OH AND I'M WAS A BIT OF MILITARY HUMOUR I THINK YOU WILL FIND. While the usa fast jets give air support and fly medi vac missions in aid of are forces I'M WITH STUPID 100 %.
