Lab 10,979
Tell the truth Gnasher, the lads obviously a hammers fan and thats all that counts................. ......Well he wouldnt of got in the door if he wasnt !.........He,s not mad into football as it happens....he,ll watch a game but not obssesive like some I remember the first time he came into the house i barely got the words " who do you support " out......and he was straight in there " WEST HAM " !!!......Think my daughter may well of briefed him beforehand...... ....Made me laugh this mate.........When i met my girl 12 year ago in a Nightclub the first words she asked me where "What team do you support?"".. Not the usual words you here from a girl. I was soon to realise that me being a Catholic Celtic supporter might be a problem for her Orange lodge Rangers supporting die hard Dad, who also runs the Rangers bus locally.......... First time i went to 'meet the inlaws' shall we say he asked me if i had any Celtic stuff on, even said i better not have Celtic pants on or i wouldn't be getting in.... But were 12 years down the line now and we get on great, even with me dishing out lessons to him at the golf...
socks 32,253
think you should of slapped him for lying me and socks are in pissing distance from your daughter.. if she likes antique shops and pubs but feck all else, she would love it where we are No sod that he might slap me back......im probably not the most approachable looking chap most of her boyfriends used to wait round the corner ....this lad was straight in looked me in the eye gave me a proper mans handshake.............but then when you have no fear of getting shot to bits or walking in the wrong direction and getting blown to bits why would you fear one man.............different class these lads it would be fair to say ive taken a shine to him ! And if you lads local to Bulford are tradesman of sorts then dont be shy.........they have big plans for their house and my daughters got a degree in spending money !..... Gnash let your daughter know that there is very little you can do to an army quarter apart from paint and hang pictures. If you change anything then you have to put it back as it was when you march out and if you don't MHS will bill them top dollar to rectify it ... My misses has waited a lifetime for our own place so she can have the kitchen of her dreams and by fukc she ain't holding back lol .......
AXUM 255
Ok.....Ive never really been around or even known any Army lads,so i dont really have anyone to ask..........but my daughter married a lad in the Fusiliers on saturday and yesterday moved down to a house at Bulford Barracks to start life together............now im first to admit i was a complete f**k up as a parent and i probably dont have any right to dictate who she sees and who she dont, but her first few boyfriends being a little bit too much like me were eventually shown the red card, fighting conning cheating wankers !..............but about 18 months ago she met a lad who i must say is a really exceptional young man....a completely straight living lad with more moral fibre and character in his little finger than someone like me has ever had in their entire body.......very few people these days can really make an impression on me,but this boy at 25 years old just has so much about him that i have total confidence he will treat my daughter right and be a fantastic son in law................. But my big doubt is the life she will have as " a soldiers wife "......shes always been a very independant young lady, has a good job etc and a good head on her shoulders..........i just wonder how hard the adjustments to that kind of life are,the place is right out in the sticks and i wonder how she,ll cope when he,s away etc.......he,s already been told he,s likely to be called up for Afghanistan at some stage over the next year he only passed out at Catterick 6 months ago so its all new for him not just her....... I know theres a few army sorts on here i just wondered what your thoughts are as regards the life itself.....im just a dumb city boy what would i know ....anyway thankyou for your time. let her stick with him... qualities r most important

Its a private house Socks......just happens to be on the fringes of Bulford Barracks.....the army sold them off and the previous owner who was army but now does search and rescue has to be living in the area he is serving....hence the sale........from what we can make out around half the properties are Army folk the other half civvies.......dont know if you ever pass through that way but theres a lot of new developments going up.........shes a smart lass and knows the property game but when its your own home common sense go,s out the window im going down there at the weekend i dread to think what shes had done and its only the first week

I do pass through Bulford every now and again as I only live a half hour away I know the patch where the old quarters were sold off ... Nice quiet area I am sure they will have a lovely time there ... The only problem they will have is when he gets promoted and gets posted somewhere else as an instructor for arguments sake ... But your daughter can always stay there and he can commute .......

You dont know my daughter lads .........................she has her own life, her own job,and certainly has her own money ...................shes always been a career girl and has done well for herself.......which was why i was so surprised when she announced she was getting married, and particularly into army life !.......but having got to know the lad i can see why and im delighted she has. My only concern all along was the lifestyle rather than the financial side.................but like i say shes got a good head on her shoulders and shes not a spur of the moment type girl so hopefully all will be cool.
