moonlighter 1,165
Very nice. I'm after something similar in the future, but I fancy a bit of spaniel in the mix to hopefully aid retrieving and recall. I fancy something that bushes for the lurchers, but also something that will retrieve shot rabbits when I'm shooting with the Rimfire out of the truck. Quote Link to post
Born Hunter 17,960
It's amazing how much she has thrown to the teckel considering she's only an eighth in her. Just shows that fractions have little correlation with true genetics. Cracker! Will she be used for bushing fox? Seems custom made for the job to me. Quote Link to post
Ideation 8,217
Cheers all. I'm all too aware of the potential problems of using such a hound blooded dog, for the task at hand, and she may well, despite all efforts, end up as a 'hound' who disappears over hill and dale on a line. We shall see, maybe with the ground work, that can be curbed a little, or at least she wil come back when done. Moonlighter, i was initially looking for something with spaniel in, but this litter came a long, and after viewing them, and speaking to the guy who bred them a few times, i just couldnt say no. If she doesnt work out for working smaller places for the runners, she will have a job pushing bigger places, maybe with a gun pack, who knows, but i will persevere. Born Hunter - aye she has thrown loads to the teckle in both looks and personality, she is a fiesty little thing! And yes, she will be used for bushing anything and everything haha, but i'm hoping we can have a little fun with some red coats. Quote Link to post

I agree totally matey, and she isn't getting out with the whippet for a good few months yet, and wont see any live game etc, for a good while either. She will be walked / excercised and trained on 'dead ground'. There is no rush, it's a bit of a project, if it doesnt work, then so be it, but i will take it really slow, and put the time in, so fingers crossed. 2 Quote Link to post
