Any good stock man works his dogs gets the full potential from them regarding work and condition then looks at background then selects a line and thinks about it. 90% of the litters about at the moment wont see 2 seasons with the same owner.Entitlement and justification are 2 different things pups breeding pups is the path of a fool. How many good dog men breed of pups and unproven stock.I was taught quality is .the aim not quantity, No wonder the game is in the state it is in nowadays.

some very good points there.but there are peddlers at all levels of the game an some people would prefer to buy an bred there own stock,,,,you have to start somewhere an linning the pockets of a peddler wouldnt be the route i would take

  1. then surely the owner breeder would want to base his own line on well tested and proven dogs rather then a 2 year old dam and sire that may or may not have ran for one season surely a line based on blind breeding is doomed to failure. I totally agree with you about peddlers and some of the self proclaimed top dog men are responsible for studding to random bitches and flooding the market with crap.

I was giving an example by saying two year old as for the stud being 3 still proved nothing a saluki doesnt even mature itself physically or mentally till past that age..As for being a stud before it came to Ireland speaks for itself.

Entitled??? mmmm maybe, but lets be real about it, what sort of person buys a dog then decides it owes him the money back, then decideds to breed it, and more than likely it will go to a below par bitch (anyone who had a decent bitch would not use an unopro ven stud, would they?) What happened to buying a dog for the enjoyment putting in a few years training entering grafting said dog and then if be chance it makes the grade then fair does, but too breed cos you simply bought the dog, well no wonder the lines are a mess, far topo many substandard dogs being bred, ya only need to look at thius thread and others like it and tell me Im wrong

Then theres the poor gulliable lads that buy em (and the divvies with the same intentions) its the dogs that suffer at the end of the day, the fella should get off his arse, get some self respect and get a job to feed himself
