gibby 0
My albino jill has just had a litter a week ago to my albino hob. Both parents are great workers and I am keeping back a couple of kitts regardless of colour but does anyone have any idea what there likely to be? The jills parents were both polecat coloured and so were both the hobs parents. Does this mean Ive got a chance of a few poleys in the litter or are they more than likely all albino? Like I say i wont be disappointed either way but maybe a bit of variety wouldnt go amiss! Cheers Gibby Quote Link to post
gnipper 6,867
If you can see dark eye spots through their lids they are poley, if not then they are bino's Quote Link to post
Kay 3,709
Very possibly albino Quote Link to post
Netter 0
A homozygous parent has two of the recessive (albino) genes, so it always passes on a recessive gene to every baby it produces Homozygous X homozygous (albino x albino, for example) =All homozygous (albinos, in this example) Every baby is going to get a recessive (albino) gene from each parent, because that's all each parent has to contribute, so all the babies will end up with TWO albino genes, making all of them albinos Edited May 21, 2007 by Netter Quote Link to post
gibby 0
Cheers guys, I had kinda expected a litter of albinos and it would seem thats what Ive got Had another look at the last night, think there's 9 of the wee blighters! Ill be keeping 1 or 2 jills (if there are any jills - havent sexed them yet) but the rest will be free to good working homes. If your interested let me know, they will be ready about mid July all going well Ill put up a "proper" advert in the classifieds nearer the time too. Oh and I live in the Dumfries area.
