few hours out

Recommended Posts

Eyup people just a few hours out better than staying in eh!

got to the farm and a quick zero chec showed either my rifle didnt like the air arms field pellets that were on their first trial with my 97, and that the zero had been knocked.

aiming for the bull in the centre the pellets were impacting left so a few shots and clicks later i nearly got it sorted. aimed for the top-centre of the target at an exit hole on the card which produced a 5shot group to the right. then adjusted so i could take 5 shots at the top right target, but over-did it... few clicks later and 6 shots were on their way to the bottom right target, with 1 wobble. then couple of clicks up and 1 more shots at the top left target...nearly! clicked it down a bit and last shot at bottom left target was bang on.. this all happened 25 yards away... :)

with no pigeons in the shed i set off towards the woodland. seen a few crows and pigeons at the otherside of some trees where they normally sit. sneaking through the low hanging trees i heard a noise that scared the s**t out of me. looked up and about 7 feet above me was a young crow, i thought it was a blackbird at first.. i raised the rifle and bang baby crow was in the bag! helping the quite plentyful songbirds in this particular woodland. didnt get a pic tho, and carried on my way.

5mins later im walking tthrough a nettle patch in a slight clearing in the trees and against the skyline 29 yards away a squirrel sets off on a sprint but then freezes, with hardly any time before it was going to surely set off again (there really scared on this bit of land) i took a standing shot and boom hit the grey tree rat straight in the ear, dropping him like a sack of s**t!! i had no time to crouch, and just aimed bang on because it looked about the same rough distance i had checked zero. lased the shot after it dropped and was near enough spot on give or take 4 yards :D lol

walked a bit more and decided to stop for a p*ss, too many times have i put the rifle down and started my flow just to see a squirrel bolt from cover, so before starting i looked around to double check haha.. in the field against the skyline and long grass about 80-90yds away i saw a head looking back, with a few bounds and a quick jump over the barbedwire fence she just casually totted around 67-69 lasede yards away!!

i decided to sit down and text a few people about my sighting and how gutted i was that the zoom on my camera is no good.. 5 mins later i heard the grass moving and was just about to grab the gun expecting a squirrel. then i saw him/ her again! i sat there motionless and watched it ponder wether to come closer to this half camoed person that was invading its woodland! it knew i was there but didnt seem too scared and we had a good look at eachother for about a minute. then without a care in the world it just totted off on its way..

sorry about the crap pics the fone only zooms to 4x and i dont have anything else.

its so nice to see deer, owls, woodpeckers, birds of prey etc .. i live in a right sh**hole of a place but at least we still have nature, we just have to look for it, instead of sitting infront of the TV.

not much happened after this, however i did slop a jar of peanut butter onto bottom of a tree to see if theres any squirrels hanging around when i get there in the morning !!

cheers for reading. SKoT :bye:
