Had a lakeland xRussel(I know its not a pat, that was fairly decent)known people to have BorderxRussels mainly as bushing dogs, but the ones bred from the right parents did well to ground. If the russel is good and the Border is good cant see a problem you might even benefit from some hybrid vigour. :D

NEVER SEEN ONE WORK MATE?

QUESTION ID ASK MYSELF IS WHY YOU WOULD WANT TO OUT BREED FROM EITHER TYPE?

RUSSELS IN THE MAIN WORK DIFFERENTLY FROM PATTS IMHO

WHY THE CROSS IF THEY ARE BOTH GOOD WORKERS FIND THEM BREEDING PARTNERS FROM THE SAME BREED...

ITS NOTHING TO DO WITH ME LIKE JUST SAYING WHAT I WOULD DO ....

Had a patterdalex russell before. Good foxing dog. Would work sensibly and if it would not bolt would either have to be dug to or left until he would kill it. Really nice intelligent dog. Perhaps too intelligent really as even though he was hard he would not look at anything else to ground.

I had to reholm the brown one due to them ripping each other to bits. Only use the black one for bushing and ratting, bit head strong but a good worker. FLOYD

had a pat x russell, bought it for a tenner as an eight week old

pup, sensible bitch had a lot of digging over 6 seasons, would only stay

around the 4 hour mark but was good enough for 60% of the earths we were working at the time. undershot to f**k,but it done a job, most of the time.

That turned into a smart looking dog,IMHO tail could do with a bit more lengh but thats just my preferance for what its worth. You say you just use him for a spot of rabbiting and ratting, but has he shown any intrest in going to ground and how is his brother doing is he doing any work.Only wondering as I seem to remember you putting pics up of pups on the old smoochers.

Be prepared for like old Forrest Gump said because it will be “like a box of chocolates, you never know what you are going to getâ€. I put small working Patt to small working Jack strictly to go for a small working terrier. I got him and I’ll start him this summer, as he’ll be a year and half in May. He is the damdest looking critter but if he does the job I’ll be happy…needless to say I won’t be doing the cross again though. I call him Pudd’in but Big Head Todd might have been more fitting. 10†at the shoulder, 15†chest and a solid 11 pounds.
