I bought myself a maver abyss 9.5m pole today, cheap and cheerful and does the job. Took it for a test tonight and had a few nice fish on it but think I need a stronger elastic in as it took an age to land carp at about 6lb, the bailiff recommends an 18 elastic for in there. I'll get the hang of this pole fishing lark, cupping a few pellets in directly over your hook certainly works a treat.

only just seen your post mate how many top kits did get with your pole were is it your fishing pm it you want 18 elastic is a bit over the top coming from a bailiff you;ll lose more fish bumping them off mate john

I don't pole fish myself, but 18 elastic is really powerful, i thought that was for double figure carp, but i am not sure.

I've a Maver Jurasic 11metre mate, I have 3 top 3's with 14,16, and 18 I always tend to use the 18 for carp and have landed fish to 21lbs fishing the floating pole method. If i'm fishing a commercial fishery with smaller carp etc i use the 14.
