portrait of the 5 nations chump bloody well dog never seen a days work in its life i bet ya show dog

Mohamad,

I think you are the chump. To crticise without having seen the dog. In fact most of the criticisms that are put up on this forum are non factual and based on envy. This ill informed criticism that turns people against each other poses the largest threat to countrysports.

The painting is an excellent portrait by David L Prescott of a quality dog that won the Five Nations against stiff competition. Personally and the owner can confrm this I thought two of the three judges would prefer racier dogs. But in the end the dog was a worthy winner.

I will post a better photo of the painting.

Well said Albert sick of people on here just to run dogs and there owners in to the ground . This dog was picked at to different shows to get put though to the five nations so it just shows how well looked after this dog was. As we all know that these shows are full of non working dogs and really who cares it is nice to see a dog win that is working but you wouldn't get half the support at these shows if it were just for working dogs there for the shows wouldn't make enough money to run these shows so working or not just enjoy and stop putting people down .

LD,

Yes the dog was a dual qualifier under two different judges - at Shanes & Mourne. I actually said to the owner at Birr before the judging that I thought he was up against it because two out of the three judges had racier dogs. BUT his quality, and conditioning literally shone through and when the sun hit him the gleam on his coat meant he couldn't be ignored.

PLUS he was the sort of dog who shows himself. A good handler can stack an OK dog or set them up to look good. This dog stands foursquare without much handling - always what I look for when I am judging dogs. He is a strong dog but one with rare balance and that hard to define quality & presence.

I am even more critical of paintings than I am of dogs & handlers! But I think the portrait does him justice. David L Prescott also did the China painting and is happy to do other portraits at a reasonable price.

A Tribute to the late John Shaw who passed away  last Thursday 6th November 25

      I Am Free
Do not grieve for me now my  friends and family, I am free
I am following the path God Laid for me
I took his hand when I heard him call
I turned my back and left it all
I could not stay another day
To Love, to live, to hunt, to show my treasured Whippets, or play.
I found a peace at close of day.
Be not burdened with the times of sorrow
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow
Perhaps my time seemed all to brief
Do not lengthen it now with undue grief
Lift up your hearts my friends and share with me
      God wanted me now,
      He set me free.
John, we will love you forever and you will be sadly missed by your loving family and all your Country Sporting Fraternity and in the show ring.
May the Angels above give you the best seat in Heaven and may your gentle soul rest in peace.
      For Country Sports Fraternity
      Margaret Mc Stay
