Im off to the states soon and will be stacking up on clothes and small items .Like a kid in a sweet shop over there ,dont know where to start .Would like to know more about the import of firearms and scopes as they really are very cheap compared to here .

Did you read the bit at the bottom,about shipping and import tax at this end taking the shine off the option, spot on peice of info though i have never been ot the states but a friend of mine has around 15 yrs ago,when he came back he had bought himself about 4 scopes, all second hand but high quality ones and the prices were very good, have a good holiday mate,

If your importing stuff from the US you really do have to watch the import tax and VAT. I got stung once before. A motorbike part I wanted was nearly half the price in the US, so I shipped one over, only to bit hit by import tax, vat, collection tax (the post office charge you for collecting the import tax etc..) By the time they were finished, the item ended up costing me more than it did had i bought it from the UK.

 

Only way to get around it is to get someone in the US to post it to you as a gift with a low marked up value on it. Or fly out there and bring stuff back yourself.
