jackinbox99 41
If your importing stuff from the US you really do have to watch the import tax and VAT. I got stung once before. A motorbike part I wanted was nearly half the price in the US, so I shipped one over, only to bit hit by import tax, vat, collection tax (the post office charge you for collecting the import tax etc..) By the time they were finished, the item ended up costing me more than it did had i bought it from the UK. Only way to get around it is to get someone in the US to post it to you as a gift with a low marked up value on it. Or fly out there and bring stuff back yourself. Quote Link to post
