whatever size you do it make sure its big enough for you to stand up comfortably to clean out etc, as it can be a real pain hunching over, just my thought

i know what you mean made that mistake with a dog run years ago, just wanting to know a rough height for them not to get over as i dont want to put a roof on the run cheers

Just make it to suit to levels of rabbit netting. With 10-12 inches of netting in the ground you should still have 6/7ft fence. I'd put some light netting over the top as well to stop crows and cats getting in.....

im not going to bother putting the mesh in the ground got a dog chained up next to it so should keep unwanted visitors at bay, think your right about netting over the top,il get some pea net to throw over the top as the stig suggested cheers Edited by long-tail

The hens will scrat away at the bottom of the mesh aswell mate leading to possible escapees, if you dont want to dig it in lay a ft flat on the floor and peg it down with tent pegs or a bit of fence wire bent into a U ;)
