Rolfe 2
I was informed yesterday that you can now use the Kania 2000 trap WITHOUT any additional tunnel fitted as the housing is classed as the tunnel once again. It originally was legal to use it this way but then had an amendment added that stated it had to be used within a tunnel. It now appears that this has been removed and reading the latest Spring Traps Approval order 2012 (No13) appears to support this fact as there is NO mention of it having to be used in a natural or artificial tunnel. It is a bit of a backward step in my opinion as it is arguably the most powerful trap of its type on the market and a tunnel offered extra protection to non-target species. Just thought I would let those of you who use the Kania 2000 know in case it had slipped past you as it had done me, I am pretty certain this is the correct interpretation but as always i am open to correction if i have got it wrong. Born Hunter 17,960
Interesting this topic should come up today as it was only yesterday evening I saw a nice shiny kania on the side of a mature hardwood just off the road in a local country estate. Thing that surprised me was that it was there bold as brass for everyone to see with no tunnel attached.......... now I know why, lol. Quote Link to post
