Labrodor/Golden Retreaver Hybrids!?..

Recommended Posts

Not long ago, we looked after a real nice Choc Lab...it was un-like alot of other Labs, in the way that it was a very racy build, and looked real tidy...i was thinking, what kind of pups would result from a union with a nice big greyhound...has anyone ever tried them...i once hunted a few days with a bloke who had a Lab x Grey, and a pup from that bitch, but the bitch had been put to a Deerhound X greyhound...

The Deerhound/Grey X Lab/Grey was a real nice dog, although ugly as hell, it caught a fair few rabbits, and he told me it knocked deer down easily..it was some size as well, about 28" if i remember, and the feet and legs looked unbreakable...

He also done shoot gun work with them...just wondered if anyone had had one or maybe some pics of them..

all the best

KYE,my first lurcher , was a lab greyhound first cross, he was the equal to any other first cross working lurcher, past or present, sadly he got killed ,in a traffic accident at just 2 years old, what makes this more of a tragedy, it was behond my my control ,to prevent this happening.

It's the greyhound that is the most important part of the lurcher and NOT the sundry breeds usually crossed with it. Reduce the size and raw speed of the greyhound and Voila..........a durable killing machine.

 my god I've spent all them years trying to get the best breeding on both sides of any pup I've bought or bred, when all I need to do was tie a greyhound to the gate and wait for the first mutt to come past :11:

Nipper, never has a dumber statment been uttered!.. :11:

If you theory was correct, we wouldnt have Lurchers, we would just have big, slow whippets!... :11:

Kye,..

I wish there were more crosses like this on offer but unless it looks very greyhoundey they dont seem to breed them.

I once had an alsatian cross and that was very cany worker, maybe any breeder is to scared of putting ount to cobby to a greyhound in case it dont sell.

I seen a breeder of lurchers last week who is getting a strain of alsatianxwolfcrossgrey, its only a young dog yet but is very impressive to big for what i want ,not like he would sell it.

But in a few years when he moves on to breeding of that strain :icon_eek:

i think the man with the wolf cross would have the perfect lurcher. even more inteligent than a collie and as fast as a 3/4 cross. this would be a ultimate dog for hare/fox/deer. i think that would be my perfect lurcher cross.
