sweet169 1
hi lads sorry if this has been asked before looking to get a whippet pup in the near future (once my baby is born and settled in) and was wondering which would be better to get a dog or a bitch for rabbit hunting i have plenty of land to hunt on as i already hunt with air rifles and land owners are happy for me to run a dog. also what should i be looking for in a pup and what sort of things should i avoid. im i better of going for a pup that is kc reg or does that mean nothing when it comes to a working whippet any advice would be great thanks aaron Quote Link to post

chartpolski 28,274
I'm with paulus on this; it's just personal preference for dog or bitch. I've had both, and they all do the job if looked after and entered correctly. Also agree with trying to get a working bred type, usualy better in the long run. Do your homework, and don't just take the first one that comes along Cheers. Quote Link to post

chartpolski 28,274
Books are fine mate, we've all read them, but you cant beat learning on the run, as it were ! Get the dog, feed it, train it, excersize it, correctly, get it out in the fields when it's ready, and next year you'll be on here talking like an expert ! LOL ! As for cost..Who knows ? KC Whippets cost quite a bit, £300-£400, but unregistered and Non-Peds should be a lot cheaper. Get you dog and have fun ! Cheers. Quote Link to post
