scope wont zero.. help please?

Recommended Posts

hi just put my 40mm scope on a high one piece mount on my hw97kt

i checked before i mounted it that the turret adjuster thingys were about half way.

i set up a target about 20 yards and the pellets wer going low by aboout 4-5 inch. after a few turns of the turret it was going about an inch low.

by now the turret was nearly at the maximum adjustment :icon_eek:

i was wondering is the scope mounted too high from the action hence the reason for all the shots going low?

as you are reading this im changing the mounts over to a medium one piece to see if it will zero.. thats if the scope isnt touching the action

if that doesnt work do you think i will need a larger scope say about 50mm with the high mounts.

id rather not 'shill' + i dont think that would make much of a difference.

any suggestions?

many thanks

sorted it :D

still needed a couple of turns up on elevation. got there in the end tho! ;)

shot a 5 shot 1 hole grouping at 20 yards.

and then a 5 shot group about as big as a 2pound coin at 40 yards.

with Daystate Rangemaster LI, a pellet ive never tried before.

plus the gun is brand new so the groupings should tighten up a bit after its broke in.

pretty chuffed with it so far  still needs christening tho...

just a shame that crows head was behind loads of twangy branches so i couldnt get a shot off.
