The one 8,623
Years ago when i got permission on a estate i was told i had free rein as long as i stayed away from the big house as that's where the boss conducts his business from . We i got a phone call saying they had rabbits in the walled garden and could i have a look as the family would be at church this morning . it was a very nice formal garden laid out with box hedging ?. . The lurcher showed a healthy interest in running along these with her head down till a half grown rabbit bolted into the border and down a rabbit hole under a big cacti thing after putting in a ferret we got a mark of a foot under a path simply raked the shells back a spit out and first one in the bag . We them walked the lurcher round the boundary of the garden and a big rabbit bolted and just made a yew tunnel with 4 holes under it in the center of the garden , after netting up and putting the ferret in we got a mark of a foot only to be told no digging here this yew tunnels a hundred years old and the bosses pride and joy we where lucky as the rabbit slipped out between the roots and onto a old doocot ? in the garden only for me to lift it out the wall and we where done in the garden . We went down to a field and netted up four burrows in a row and i thought we might get a lot of grief as it was deep it was slow going but they all bolted as if there arses where on fire and we called a halt a half five with twelve big rabbits and a few wee ones but as there all going for ferret grub it wont matter .
