If you can get hold of some NV gear even better pal. What you suggested about baiting a kill area is also a good idea and something I am looking at myself on one of my shared rat permissions. As you will know range finding at night isnt very easy so if you can bait a safe area and know its exact range from muzzle to target area its a great advantage and it will allow you to zero at that exact range and stand alot better chance of killing more rats.
