mjthomason 2
Hi there, I'm Mike, a photogrpaher from Hull (North Ferriby specifically) and I'm interested in photographing unusual pastimes - activities that people wouldn't usually see unless they'd been brought up with that tradition. One of my few experiences with hunting and field sports came as a child in Scotland. The people I was on holiday with knew some ferreters and they took us along with them for the day. I remember that they were real characters and being fascinated with the ferrets and the way in which the rabbits were eventually dispatched - quickly, and with a lot of skill. I'd really like to spend a day, or even longer if convenient, with anyone who ferrets in or around East Yorkshire taking pictures of the process and talking about different ways of going about ferreting. I'd happily give you any of the pictures you like (I shoot on film so it will take a little time to process the negatives and then scan them) and buy you a few pints (or soft drinks!) for your trouble. As a photographer, what appeals to me is to portray people with a passion for something, and particularly the relationship between people and animals so if you're not a ferreter, but pursue another hobby that you think I might find interesting and wouldn't mind having me hang-out with you for a day, please feel free to get in touch. You can see some of my photos on the website 'Flickr' here. Please feel free to e-mail me if you're interested: mjthomason@gmail.com thanks for reading, Mike
