  1. Thanks Lee. Had a really good time and got some good shots. Still looking to get out as much as possible so if anyone fancies taking me out just give us a buzz. Cheers 07964 166775
  2. Clark: I shot on film. Tri-x 400. The price of it means I'll mostly use digital from now on and save film for certain shoots. Thanks for the compliment.
  3. Thanks guys. Went out today and had a great time. If anyone else is game, please do get in touch.
  4. Hey TOMO, I'm no expert but they guys I photographed definately caught rabbits in the nets and I think I remember pegs going in the ground. You'd probably have to ask Jamie93 for an expert's opinion. best, Mike
  5. Rob, Shall we talk on the phone so I can address your worries? best, Mike
  6. Hi guys, Thanks for engaging with me! I went out with Jamie93 from here. If he's still on I'm sure he'd give me a reference so please feel free to get in touch. I just shoot what I see so I think that means that if you're not doing anything to discredit the sport the photos won't discredit it either! What did you guys think of my portfolio? Can you be specific about things that you feel might discredit the sport so I can understand where you're coming from? I really like ferreting because it's a skillful sport and there are lots of great moments that make for dramatic photography. I respec
  7. Hi Everyone, I'm a photojournalist with an interest in ferreting and other fieldsports. I went out with a couple of guys two years ago and made a nice series of images. You can see them here: (scroll right to see all the photos) http://mjthomason.portfoliobox.me/ferretingAnyway, I'm looking to start up the project again this season and make a really strong series of images (in colour this time) that capture all the work that goes in to catching rabbits with ferrets. The ultimate goal is to publish on the web and in a magazine with an essay about ferreting. I really like ferreting and the e
  8. On your blog spot , Hi Jamie, I'm not sure which camera you're talking about! I like the photos I take, yes. Hopefully others do too!

  10. Hi there, I'm a photohrapher interested in documenting the relationships between humans and animals. I have fond memories of accompanying ferreters a a child while on holiday. If you wouldn't mind having a photographer accompany you for a day or two pleae get in touch. I'm living in South London and so can travel anywhere within a couple of hours of London by train. The aim is to build a historical record of the people who participate in an often overlooked sport and to capture something of the drama, anticipation, and care needed to to be successful at ferreting. In return for your time I

  12. Hi there, I'm Mike, a photogrpaher from Hull (North Ferriby specifically) and I'm interested in photographing unusual pastimes - activities that people wouldn't usually see unless they'd been brought up with that tradition. One of my few experiences with hunting and field sports came as a child in Scotland. The people I was on holiday with knew some ferreters and they took us along with them for the day. I remember that they were real characters and being fascinated with the ferrets and the way in which the rabbits were eventually dispatched - quickly, and with a lot of skill. I'd real
