matt1979 766
My brother works to border bitches for bushing to his shotgun and they are excellent little terriers, where easily trained to a good standard, not yappy or scrappy and have good coats for the work, as a bonus they are soft as a brush in the house. 1 Quote Link to post
flakie 0
i had a border bitch and she was a great busher. i got her off digging men because she wasnt doin what they wanted her for. i got years of bushing out of her, very smart dog and very noisy when on the bunny, always a plus when the lurchers are in wait. trinder 127
Once its had all jabs get it out with expeirenced dogs and just keep it on lead , pups learn best by watching what other dogs do so just let it watch for the first few trips and once its got all 2nd teeth introduce it to rats , how will you catch the rabbits the dog bolts ? If you are using lurchers id encourage the pup to use its voice as much as possible , start with a live rat in a trap and get pup all fired up untill it starts to yap then reward it with treat this is something you can do as soon as its jabbed . Then get a fresh rabbit skin and let pup rag it , once it knows the smell hide it in easy spots then make more difficult . Once its watched older dogs work and learned how to use its nose and voice let it work with older dogs and it will soon click , dont do too much too young though let the pup be a pup bushing is a good graft and you dont want to overdo it i would do a full days bushing and ferreting at around 15 months depending on the individual dog Atb Trinder Edited February 25, 2012 by trinder Quote Link to post

obi2 241
There definatly not a hard dog to get on with, the ones iv had are extremely friendly with people and always try and please. Some take a bit to come on and some come on quick but whatever type you get itl do the job if brought up properly. Quote Link to post
