SNAP SHOT 194
Well having been outta the shotting for a while i got a call from one of my permission friends to sort out a fox problem before lambing soon, Got into jeep and hit the road about 9, there for 9-20pm Wind blowing around 10 -15 mph multi directionally, First fox sighted and bagged at 217 yards, Second one we were lamping the distant ends of the fields from a ditch only to notice movement close by, saw a fox run from the dicth were we were literally standing, give a shout and it stopped about 60 yards for the few seconds i needed to click the safety and boom, the thump was ringing in my ear before the rifle settled and n0. 2 in the bag... spotted a fox low down in a valley winds was right to left and gusting so held of slightly right, and ranged at 424 yards up on my tip toes i pulled the trigger and a miss, i tried to account for downhill and wind but fluffed the shot with a slight flinch, drove for a while and spotted 2 in the one field, akward shot, and this fox deffo had been light up recently of he went like a rockt, while just about to clear through the sheep wire As you may notice they always have to take a peek back didn't have time to range it, held slightly over and let fly the 87g v-max, only to see him slide down the stone wall dead, ranged and 211 yards, on the way back saw a distant fellow and decide to settle in for the shot with the drizzle starting, ranged at 379 yards i took note and dialed the shot, reaching the last click i poped the butler creek covers and tapped the window to light up the area, breathing settling i squeezed the shot off, and didn't notice a thing, only no fox.....!!!!! the guys said MISS, but i was sure i was on target, With a stream and uphill walk, the guys decided to call it a night and said if they got a chance would scour the area in daylight, driving to the large local town my phone rang i got pulled in and the guys said i had another confirmed kill, !!!! with the shot taking out the left hand side of it head entirely......!!!! So i've had a great first night back as you can tell and i'm eager to get out soon..... Wat a night.... Quote Link to post
