jimster68 123
well the seasons just about ended for me ,so itsabout time i put pen to paper and show a few places ive ferreted this year . ive also met a few lads of here and helped a few out when i could .one lad i met was ROYSTON he had no permission and he wanted to get out with ferrets after a few years out of the sport ,so i invited him for a day out on my permission (after he had put an ad in the wanted section) ,sods law we we cought ten on the day and six had mixy ,ROYSTON then realy got the bug and we got invited out for a day out on yorkshire hunters permission a few weeks later , and bagged another 25 rabbits ,during this time ROYSTON had been advertising on various forums for his own permission .he got a phone call from a farmer who said he had a rabbit problem and would he be interested .well it would be rude not to so along we went . its just about the hardest ferreting anyone could take on ,and the farmer said people only tend to turn up once and are never seen again hmmmmm i wonder why ? this was the site that greeted us, rabbits had stripped the place bare, In the distance you can see some green about 75% of the field had been eaten and the farmer just wasnt a happy man. so over the next few weeks we got to work and a bit more help was required. FATMOOCHER and 2 of his friends were called as reinforcements were needed as it was almost impossiable for 2 or 3 of us to do, armed with long nets, 8 ferrets, 6 men and a dog over the next few weeks we managed to clear 50+ rabbits. these were the easier parts of the permission to work the rest was thick blacberry bushes ,the embankment stretches about 500 yds and theres holes everywhere on both sides ,our biggest problem was keeping track of the ferrets as on a number of occasions they were found 50+ yards away from where we were ferreting and one ferret was found after three of us searching for 2 hours it turned up about 300yds away .any how it looks like the hard work has paid off the farmer was realy pleased with the results and ROYSTON has gained more permission by word of mouth and hes also been given permission to lamp and shoot ,it was good meeting up with fatmoocher and his pals and they were great guys to work with ,so a few frienships formed and i can see me meeting up with them next season ...........jim Quote Link to post
The one 8,593
Aye you struggle to get your first permission but give a 100% and a good farmer will help by having words with his next door neighbor good going mate Quote Link to post
