hi all after some advise been talking to a few people an they say its easer to get permission with a shot gun an now im 18 i would like one for clays an abit pigeon shooting an abit of game what chance would i have getting my sgc 18 years old no job an no car

Your SGC is an ENTITLEMENT !.. you have to get it unless the police have VERY good reason not to give it to you,

 

It`s not a question of will I get it or not, Lots of people don`t realise that the SGC is something anybody is entitled to,, whether you have a job, car, land to use it, whatever!! makes no difference, you get it regardless.

It`s only if the Police have an issue with you that they can try to withold it, in which case you appeal and a judge decides if the police can withold it or not.

Great advice there walk aboot. Don't be afraid of going for it, i was shitting myself getting mine but unless you've been a bad boy then they can't really say no.

Whether you have a job, a car etc. is none of their business. You might have a problem if you don't have somewhere to live (bit difficult to secure the weapon) but otherwise, as long as you've not got a record as long as your arm, they should issue it.

 

As an aside, the FAC is a whole different kettle of fish, you need to show good reason to possess, and the investigations in to your background are a whole lot more rigorous. Still makes not a jot of difference if you have a car, or a job.

like others have said ,should be no problem ,but they might be when you have to get your shotgun and carts to a clay shoot or pigeon shooting somewhere etc with no transport ,if you know what i mean

You should have no issues,the car job thing is nothing to do with the application process,as long as you have behaved In the past and have a clean record you will be ok,apply and enjoy the sport,so get the pen to paper and In a few months time u could be dustin them clays or doing some pigeon shootin,it's a doodle for the sgc

There is no condition for it but where I live they like it if you can get a lesson or two at a clay ground and have done the safety stuff. Our FLO asks a good few questions to satisfy his self that you are aware of the dangers to yourself and others. He would ask questions like what you would do if you had a misfire etc. In principle it's a good thing but the problem is the clay grounds can charge a fair bit for this if they're of the money grabbing variety.
