micky 3,325
They'd be around the #220 mark then? Most definately Not on the british Approved List, for very good reasons. Would that be his Setting Tools to the middle there, Fish? Silvery things? 'Setting Tongs'. Must say, they might do for a #110, but if ever I was to find myself buggering about with anything nearly so awesome as a #220, I think I'd want a somewhat more robust and reliable tool! As ye say; Ye wouldn't want ye hand in one! i set quite a few bodygrips , and always use the setting tool to compress and decompress the springs, as it makes the job so easy . i also use a safety gripper to hold the jaws whilest i site the trap.ithe setters are about six quid and the saftey grips are two quid.i would not , and probably could not ,set this type of trap without either of these tools. micky Quote Link to post
Guest Ditch_Shitter
Careful with those " Safety Setters ", Micky. I'm very reliably informed they can pop off at The Most inoppertune moments! Never let them lull ye into a false sense of security, mate. No. Me? When I use BG's I tend to rely on the age old Trappers Friend; Mortal Fear of the consequences of f*cking up! Thus I concentrate like hell on what I'm doing and use a long enough stick in place of my fingers in the firing line And, just for the sake of discussion; If I ever - god forbid! - had to mess around with anything as awesomely powerfull as a #220? I don't think I'd be happy with those 'scissor' type setters either. Bit too unstable for me. I understand there are rather more robust things available to help out there? One sort is like a modified Mastic Gun. Squeeze the trigger and it compresses the spring for ye. Another, I believe, hooks round the spring eyes and ye pull like shit on a handle to bring the eyes together. Sticking with the what if / only aspect of this part of the Thread; I'd prefer Belisle made traps. They have the " Magnum " killing bar styling. Legendarily strong springs and integral safety hooks. Wouldn't need to mess about trusting to a 'Safety Setter' with those babies. Still; Rules are rules ..... so ... Quote Link to post

john b 38
Not implying anything about RabbitHunter's products in any way, I think it's important to stress the difference between 'cheap traps' and good traps bought cheaply. This is a 'fenn' mk6 which I bought at a game fair last year and as you can see the spring has snapped. It broke on it's second time of firing. Quote Link to post
