20 is lighter, easier to carry around if rough shooting and for most genral shooting will do everything a 12 will. 23 gram carts are a dream to shoot with and have the pattern for woodies and rabbits at 30-35 metres. Having said that alot shoot with 28/30 gr.

 

I nearly always go for the 20 or 28 bore over the 12, with the exception of fox drives and geese.

me to mate, havent used a 12 for at least 4 seasons for general everyday stuff, the 20 is a cracking everday gun. i do tend to stick to 28 or 32 gr shells though

I would agree with the above I have a Hatsan 3 shot semi in 20 gauge, it took a while to find a good cartridge that would recycle 100% but its a great gun which I use for everything except Woodcock and thats only because they deserve to be shot with a more traditional gun! ;)
