If you open the dog's mouth wide and look at the gums where the teeth should be, it should be obvious if the root is still there or if there's just a gaping hole where the teeth were. It's not uncommon for dogs to lose teeth when they're working a fox up close and personal like. When you say pre molars, do you mean the small pointy teeth behind the canines and in front of the carnassial tooth, which is the first big molar?

If you are, they have a forked root, and if the root is left in the head it can go rotten and eventually cause problems, though a lot of dogs survive over many years very well before the owner actually realises there is a problem! In my experience, it is more likely that there is part or all of the root still in there as they are quite long and would be very difficult to be torn out unless the actual jaw bone had been damaged or a lot of gum torn away. If you're worried, then get the dog to a vet.

I had a dog knock one side of his teeth out several year's ago a lurcher by the way.. about 6/7 of them including his top and bottom canine..i had him to the vet's and the vet said it would be better to leave the snapped stump's where they where as they is more root than tooth and it would be more trouble than it was worth trying to remove them all..it never seemed to bother him pretty shortly after he done it..they was more broken a bit further back what you can not see in the picture.
