AndyKelly 251
went out on wedensday night and bumped into an old mate i aint seen for a while.whilst chatting in the pub found he was a ferreter which i didnt know so i offered him a days ferreting on thursday which he jumped at, he arrived at mine at 8am bright eyed and bushy tailed as the saying goes but very inadequately dressed in a short bomber jacket and wellies and a thin top and jeans,by the by we jumped in the car and was off for a day out. arrived at the ferreting ground and walked the 20 minutes to where the large warrens were, netted up and he put his ferret down. a minute later i looked down the hole to find the ferret curled up and asleep.i asked him how old the ferret was and he replies 18 months. are you sure it works i asks. so i removed his ferret and threw fred the big lad down the set. a couple of minutes later two rabbits shot out and told my mate to catch em. i cant he says im too cold!. so i ran down the hill to get the rabbits and one escaped.worked a few more and all told i got 15 rabbits in a couple of hours but the day was cut short as i was concerned that he was gonna freeze to death.good sign that the rabbits are still not carrying young up here mabey the cold weather has set them back a few weeks so hopefully will get a few more cracks at it. the weather has been well below freezing for a couple of weeks now and we still have snow on the ground.just had to retire early on thursday before my mate got rigamortis Quote Link to post

When we went it was cold but to bad, but after 6-7 hours and the temp strarts to drop, you feel it. Only wore gloves to start the day, but need them the last hour. With ferret'n you will spend fair bit of time standing about , not like lamping where you are on the move all the while Quote Link to post
