MR TEA POT 1,287
Bought 10 brass rabbit snares the other day from my local country fair, just came with the brass and some green thread! Never used snares before Need to know how to get em to using stage? Hi LL to be honest mate i wouldn't use them, they are shite the wires come undone and the string snaps.I was the same as you i bought them snares as well, till i got in touch with woodga,he put me straight.Pm woodga,he makes cracking snares you can use them straight out the box as well,no making pegs and that. All the best with your snaring Quote Link to post

OldTrapCollector 377
They may be shit lol but its what i have at the moment!! So how does i do em?? LL - however you use them make sure they don't get left set and forgotten this time please . . . I am sure Woodga or one of the other snare masters on here will explain better how to use them than I can. See the pinned messages at the top of this forum for some superb advice from Mr Waters on snaring. OTC Quote Link to post

OldTrapCollector 377
Dont worry OTC, I will make it my duty to check my snares and other traps i run atleast twice a day Keep a pocket diary of what was set and where, and what you catch. That's what I used to do. Then you can see which seasons and sites catch better than others for different species. It all helps OTC Quote Link to post
Guest little_lloyd
Thanks for that OTC Sounds like a good idea will get this going. Quote Link to post
john b 38
LL Make sure that you use snare markers - you wouldn't believe how hard it can be to find snares again the following day. One way I make sure that is to take a set amount out with you - count them out and count them back as you collect them. Quote Link to post
danielt 1
i use a bit of red wool and tie it too to trees or brambles above the snares. Quote Link to post
Yokel Matt 918
As for using them mate... they are generally a bit small to provide a big enough loop size for use on peg snares. You should be able to use them as fence wires but you may need to stretch them out and tighten the spin a bit as they can be a bit loose. Like you say... its all you have at the moment so best of luck If you're going to take it up seriously either learn to make some yourself (Woodga's DVD) get some decent hand made ones from someone who knows what they are doing ie... Woodga... You'll WILL notice the difference. Quote Link to post
