Irish Lurcher 1,013
macker Nice little read. Over twenty years ago when you saw this fox eating the afterbirth, I too can recall when out on the bank pike angling we came across two foxs playing in some high grass in the next field, both foxs were full of life and I was amazed at how high they could jump, we sat for twenty minutes watching this playful act and then shot the b*****ds. hairybull 3
we used to have problems with foxes when our cows were calving- the fox would eat the calfs mouth/tongue as it was being born, after that it couldnt drink so it would die. b*****ds. They come in while the horses are foaling and take the afterbirth within minutes of us leaving. Also my mates staff had a litter of pups out the back and 2 foxes ganged up, while the male dog was chasing one across the paddock the other fox would come in and try to take one of the pups while they scattered and the bitch was running around trying to protect all of them. Would never have believed they would try to take on 2 dogs and a litter of pups but we seen it and watched it every night for nearly a week. Didnt have my dogs there at the time or else they wouldnt have done it after their first go! Quote Link to post

rob reynolds uk 3
you will always find a fox in the calfing field next to the farm looking for the after birth ,it always the first place we look when out with the rifle .. Edited April 21, 2007 by rob reynolds uk Quote Link to post
mole trapper 1,646
Hairy bull the exact same thing used to happen to our calves down here in cornwall but people would not believe it, poor little fockers, ten minutes of life then i would have to shoot them. No fox whatever the age condition etc is safe around here, if it,s in the sights it,s butchered it,s last new born calf. Quote Link to post
Mitch 0
I have also whitnessed the Cows eat the after birth, almost straight away. I thought this was to eliminate the chance of drawing in Predators. Those foxes are b*****ds, Hairybull I bet those foxes would struggle stealing pups off a Staghound Quote Link to post
