venomviper 129
I have just got in from doing my ATEO course with Shay. I arrived at the venue (his house) at about 09:45 and once I had unloaded my gear was offered a cuppa. After this I was shown various pieces of equipment and asked what they were used for and asked what you would look out for in the case of knives and anything else that could be dangerous. Next I was shown how my particular rifle/scope was not set up to its full potential (I don't think there is anything about shooting that Shay doesn't know). Then it was into the actual presentation, which I am lead to believe Phil helped to prepare, and I must say it looks very professional. The presentation goes over things like the law, safety, rifle types, the 4 different airgun calibres and their benefits and disadvantages, quarry and their identification and the killzones using photos with coloured circles showing which calibre was recommended for the particular killzone, one of which the squirrel had the boiler house killzone covered including its front paw, this I was told was because it was giving the photographer (Phil) the single fingered salute. Once the presentation was completed the paperwork was done, then we headed out to the Manor, for the practical shooting session. This involved Shay setting up targets (with 2 at the same distance but different sizes, highlighting that perspective makes thing look different) at differing ranges and me shooting at them, using the cannon (.25) calibre Lightening, with Shay giving me some pointers to help me improve my shooting. When this was finished we went for a walk around the Manor for a bit of hunting. We saw a few squirrels but they didn't present decent shots, and the 2 rabbits we saw were scared of by Shay's phone ringing. All in all it has been a worthwhile and enjoyable day, which I highly recommend to both new and seasoned shooters alike. Shay has put a lot of work into these courses and it shows, well done mate and can I also give my compliments the chef on the bacon, mushroom and fried egg sarnies. Thanks Shay and good luck with the future courses Nick this is what was put up on another forum shay Quote Link to post

venomviper 129
hi ya bud this is what i do pal Airgun Training & Education Organisation The ATEO was primarily set up to educate, train and promote all aspects of airgun shooting to the public by a small group of dedicated airgun shooters this has now grown with some dedicated coaches across the country. Our mission is to encourage people of all ages and abilities to enjoy their chosen airgun sport, we believe this can be enhanced by having appropriate training without harm, or injury to persons or wildlife, or any detriment to the environment. This education needs to start at an early age to focus youngster to the dangers of misusing guns of all types and the laws and legislation that can be broken, so to this aim the ATEO as set up a schools program to help inform youngsters to the law and how the use of this equipment correctly can be a way to control some pest species with out risk to other species that other methods can cause and how some of these pest species can be used to provide a organic and health food source. Since it’s inception the ATEO has become the preferred training provider of the BASC coaching award, developed professional training programs for the pest control professional delivering this training to local government councils and blue chip companies and corporate entertainment organisations. The ATEO actively working with other organisations to raise the profile of airgun sports and the formation of clubs to encourage the safe use of airguns as recreational sport . Airgun Training and Awareness for the Pest Control Industry The aim of the programme is to train pest control operatives and their managers in the safe & effective use of air weapons and to complete any necessary documentation to ensure H & S regulations are met. On completion candidates will be able to: - Humanely dispatch pests. Demonstrate the safe use of air weapons for pest control purposes. Comply with government legalisation. Maintain and demonstrate due diligence. Demonstrate and follow good practise. Set-up and maintain equipment. Certificate on completion. this is what i do matey happy new year shay Quote Link to post
