B.P.R 2,798 Posted December 28, 2011 Report Share Posted December 28, 2011 Decided last night to get out this morning and get some more ferreting done. Rang a mate and sorted it for 9.15am. Arriving at his we debated if it was worth going with the rain imminent and the wind blowing a gale. We was ready with our kit, ferrets knew that soon they would be let loose and earn their keep and I wanted some more skins for the dummy to train the pup...... Decided to give it A go. Got to the woods and selected our burrows for working helped by the clear digging indication. Nets on and put the ferrets to ground. Waited. Waited and then I heard the squeal of the rabbit not far from the burrows entrance. Wish I had my locator! Got the spade out and dug back down the burrow. The rain was Now pounding down and I couldnt feel my fingers through my digging gloves. Got to the ferret and there was the arse end of a dead rabbit. 1 rabbit for the Bag. Put him back in but nothing so onto the next. Nets up and moved along the hedge. Set up again and ferrets back in, 2 this time As it was bigger..... Waited a few minutes and I Was thinking..... These have laid up again!!! Just then a rabbit bolted, I was doing my best 10yard hurdles over the cover and got to it just in time.... Rabbit number 2. Caught 3 more between us and had to Give into the rain and wind at 11.30. Mud everywhere and P!ss wet through. 2 Quote Link to post
