sandymere 8,263
They are a good quiet place for a dog to recover I’ll give you that. I had a dog broke his wrist and had to be crated for a fair while, afterwards he would always prefer to sleep in the crate, the bitch would go in as well but she was never crated. It was just an ordinary wire crate. I came to the conclusion that they liked and felt secure in there. I’d not deny the feeling of security and relaxation would have a good effect and aid recovery just that adding what amounts to a fridge magnetic will not add anything to the process. I have two that sleep in at the mo and both prefer to sleep in the under stair cupboard, door open, they get right fidgety if their beds are not moved out of the dining room at exactly 10 o’clock every night lol. Again it’s an undisturbed smallish area bit like a wolf den would be, I don’t come to the conclusion that is in some way making them heal though. This therapy has been very well tested and if there was some unknown force at work it would give a positive result when tested but alas what was found was that those who had magnetic therapy had the same outcomes as those that had a pretend magnet. It’s a shame but true. As to the claims, as I say if there was an increased calcium depositing then it would increase oesto arthritis spur formation leading to increased pain and reduced joint mobility so just as well it doesn’t. If you think about it every hospital manager in the UK is looking for ways to reduce patient stay; basically for them the sooner patients are discharged the better. If there were real benefit to healing with this treatment then every surgical bed would be magnetised. Even discharging half a day early would save millions but there not used as alas they don’t work. So get a grate and a good quiet recovery area and get the same results for a quarter of the price. Millet 4,497
If they are no good how come i have seen a noticable difference in healing time's with dog's that have been ripped by fighting or a barbed wire since i started using one..also how come the dog's have a good old stretch and go straight to the water bowl after it is turned of..which they dont do when they lay in there when it is not switched on..and they have all the oppertunity in the world to come out when they want as the door can be left open.. How come they use magnetic therapy on expensive race horse's and greyhound's..surely to god that must prove something..IMO from my experience's with mag box's is they do work and i will keep using it..
sandymere 8,263
People do lots of things for their own reasons. Each to their own. I remember back along it was a big thing to have a rubber strip hanging from your car bumper to the road to 'ground' the vehicle. I think it was the beginning of my interest in this sort of thing. A rep had put one on his car and insisted that after a long journey he felt better, less tired etc. I struggled, after all it already had 4 rubber tyres on the road and anyway rubber is not a good conductor. I expressed my doubts to me met with ever increasing assertions that his strip worked etc. He believed it and saw positive effects, I didn’t and saw a placebo. Don’t see then much these days, but as I say each to their own. Perhaps your dogs heal well because you keep then healthy/fit with increasing experience and knowledge, perhaps you should credit yourself rather than a magic box. PS they do lots of things to racing dogs and horses that make little sense, it’s a very competitive game where if it was rumoured that bum fluff added a little stamina within a month it would be common place and trainers would be swearing by it lol.
