Guest cookiemonsterandmerlin
Well I am lucky to have a fair few paid paid ferretting jobs and last year we had a very large contract on 40 acres of soon to be planted woodland. With close location of houses etc rimmy the coneys would not be suitable and the owners did not want to gas . So we was called into clear the site well 5 weeks produced 650 coneys all to net and dogs and longnetting with no lamping with the rimmy just lamping with the dogs. Well we returned today to check numbers and to say the reduction was severe is a slight understatment. Partly aided by the clients request to fill all holes on completion last year. Which is not somethink we normally do as I always see ferretting as haversting coneys rather than clearly the whole population. Still we managed a whole 10 with a little dig to no avail. Last years best day was 69 so gives you some concept of the diffrents . Heres last year bag of 69 followed by some of today Cheers Cookie Quote Link to post
tegater 789
You can only kill em once. Seriously though when you have a job to do, and its not sport, then it has to be done. Quote Link to post
