Hello all,

I was wondering if this would work for long net poles..?

Old Car Ariels.. ?

cheap as chips from scrap yard ? ( dont get any ideas kids..we dont want a spate of vandalisms LOL )

rubber bung on end or something.

they fold down to nothing..extend to decent height.

fit in your bag.. or even pocket.

nice and small for stealthy operations..LOL.

Question..

Do you think they would be strong enough.. ?

Any ideas for something similar.. ?

Like the idea of long netting....But not with big bloody baskets and long pegs sticking out of yer bag when walking about.

i don't think the car arials are a good idea, wouldn't think they would be strong enough, and when you start to get dirt in the joints it won't be as easy to open and close, hazel poles are the tried and trusted.

while on the subject of hazel, I have found some trees round about, whats the best way to treat them :hmm: , do you dry them out and varnish them or what, I,ve never used a long net but intend making one now I,m a master netmaker lol

cut them in feb as they will have the least amount of sap in then just let them season.

Cut the end of October till the end of February, cut the thickness of your little finger, and 24 or 26 inches long, point them, remove burrs and round the end tye them in bundles with plastic tyes, and put them in a dry place to dry out.

At the same time you can cut Hazel purse net pegs, sharpen them drill your hole, and put them away to dry in bundles, all free.
