chilly 59
took my pup on her first ferreting trip last week ,it was her first proper days work, she did quite well caching 2 boulters as these were her first catches ever, kept her on the slip tho as there were a few terriers there and she was going a little deff with the excitement, got some work to do with her obedience, but after that first boulter she switched right on watching the hedge line vary closely , im hoping she is going to make a god little ferreting dog Quote Link to post
rob190364 2,594
dont no as i dont assosaite with chavs there not a chav culture up here , i would say more go beating than have running dogs ,you must live near a chave culture ,i wouldnt involve daffties or chave to the game as its not a holiday camp yep, it's called the UK! I don't associate with chavs either pal, but unless you're walking around with your head up your arse I don't see how you could not notice them? unless you live in the middle of nowhere? and even then if you can't escape them cos they're all over the net! Read some of the posts on here FFS! it was only last week that a couple of lads joined and their first three posts were 'wanted subaru' 'wanted bull x' and 'wanted lamp', what does that tell you? thankfully they've been deleted now but you get my point surely? and you don't need to involve them, they involve themselves. B.P.R 2,798
Rob- what would you Class as a Chav? I know the general look and attitude of some People is disgusting, i may look like a Chav but Am certainly not one. I see where your coming from and sometimes when I walk the gamefairs etc I do feel out of place in my trackies. Ive grown up in towns and also the country and experienced different ways of living. I can change the way I look/ haircut etc but seem to get frowned upon by some people who don't know me. Not everyone who wears trackies is a twat who disrespects the land but agreed a lot are. Also age seems to play a major part in this sport. The younger you are then the less time people give you. I think Ive got A good head on my shoulders and I've certainly got a lot resting on my decisions, not that it matters, just sometimes younger people have a lot to give and learn but nobody wants to give them the chance. Few guys have took me out and are always on the end of the phone for advice. I have asked a few guys on here via pm for a night on the lamp (just to take a back seater- to learn) and None have even bothered to pm me back. I don't mean to sound defensive, just Making a small point. Young guys need to learn the game or there will be nobody to take over when yous have popped it. Quote Link to post

OK, my definition of a chav........lazy idle good for nothing who has no respect for authority, adults, other human beings in general. Someone who thinks the world owes them a favour but are not willing to work hard for anything at all. The kind of person that would get a staff purely because they think it makes them look 'hard'. The kind of person that would live in a house or flat that isn't detached and would have music on full blast without a second thought for anyone who might also be able to hear the shite that they listen to. That sort of thing.... And from a hunting perspective those sort of traits are carried over....i.e. smashing gates, churning up crops....no respect for the farmers land or his livelihood. Getting a bull x....because they think it makes them look hard (again, normal people have bull crosses aswell, but you rarely see a lurcher owning chav with anything but a bull x). You get the picture! You'll notice I didn't mention appearance. 99% of chavs dress the way you describe, so if you dress the same way you can't really expect some people to not view you in a similar light, even if it is wrong to judge people on appearance, that's just what people do, it's human nature. If someone approached me dressed the way you describe my expectations would be low, but I wouldn't dismiss them completely until I heard what they had to say, saw what kind of attitude they had and got a feel for their demeanor, that's the only way you know for certain what sort of person they are. But, whether you like it or not first impressions count, so walking about in trackies, Nikes, burberry caps etc. is creating an impression in peoples minds. That's the way I see it anyway Quote Link to post

TOMO 28,656
your first clip tomo the red dog is covering an unnetted hole its well aware theres a rabbit on its way but its not blocking the hole its up out of sight an nails it before it gets 4 feet what age is that dog an how long did it take for it to learn that trick or was it a one of that bit of film, was from earlier this year end of feb,, early march,,, she was 6 this june,, she doesnt always get behind a hole evrytime,, that particular warren was just 3 holes, but spread over a large area, somtimes she will be infront of a hole.as she hears it rumble up the tube and grab it out the entrance ,, theres a clip further down showing this. i honestly couldnt say how long it toke for her to become a yousefull ferreting dog,,, not perfect,, but usefull, but i wil say i think its a big MISTAKE taking a pup ferreting with other dogs,, the pup is always going to be bossed by the other dog, and let the other dog do evrything. take it on its own from a young age,,, yes you will pull your hair out at times,, just be patient 1 Quote Link to post
