springer help

hi I have a 2 year old springer bitch and when she's retrieving a dummy or any game, she gets close to me and then just circles round me. i thought she might just grow out of it but she hasnt, anyone got any tips on how i can get her to stop her doing it please, thanks

Mine does that too, she's also 2 y/o , she kinda spins round showboating,,, i think she shows off to the dog,,, she loves to beat him at anything....... havent a clue what to do about it but then we work informaly just for fun

I think its just a spaniel thing mine is exactly the same.

Hi mine used to do this and it really did my head in. Heres how i overcame it i used an alley way or even a hall/corridor and gave the dog a few simple retrieves up the alley way and i found that the dog had to come straight back to me. i continued this for a few weeks and gradually the dog started to come straight back when i was in the field. hope this helps and it could be worth a try. I solved mine,,,,,,,, i put her on a bungie rope ,,, further she runs the straighter she comes back,,,,,, lol lol . Thats wel worth a try Tony ,,,, good idea mate cheers

As already been said, get yourself in a ginnel or allyway so the dog cant run behind you, mine is 6months now and used to do the same but since trying this method he presents to hand now, took about two weeks to nail it home.
