Bit Of Advice Please

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I was wondering if you could give me a bit of advice. I have a Beddy, Grey x Whippet bitch that is now a year old. Now i have just started working her properly and so far she is doing well, she has caught a couple of rabbits (which is all i am planning to use her for) and after reading other threads on here the advice seems to be not to give her hard slips, which makes sense but if i see rabbits that are to far off and near cover i put her on the lead to stop her chasing them. The problem is, when she spots them she goes mad, pulling and yapping because i wont let her go. She is silent at the moment while chasing, but i was thinking would this make her start opening up on quarry. ATB. Neil.

slipp her on a cupple on the hedge mate if its a quick dog witch it should be it should panic the rabbit to make a misstake and she should pick it up

Cheers mate, i did try this but they just dive straight into the bush and go to ground, she is quick but i mean the ones that are just too far off. No dog would be able to catch them.

Cheers lads, Its more daytime really, if i'm lamping, i can just move the lamp away, or switch it off, its just the barking and yelping that was worrying me, as i said she doesnt do it at the moment while she is chasing, but i dont want her to start. I think i will just try harder to not let her see them, and the ferrets will be coming out soon so hopefully she will have a few more then, and then i can stop worrying lol.

Thats the best thing mate, take it ferreting, let it watch then let it hold a couple as they hit the nets, then leave a couple of nets off and let it chase them, then go back to netting them, it will help it settle down and stop the yapping, the rest will come the more experience it gains, good luck WR.
