My new light weight stalking rifle - San Swiss Precision SHR970

Recommended Posts

Saw it a few weeks ago, swapped my Remmy 700 Police for it, variation through in a record 4 days, rifle went for screw cut for mod - now back with me :)

Swiss Arms manufactured San Swiss Precision Alpin SHR970 in .223 with a 1:10 twist topped of with a my old Burris 3-12x50XTR and a new Spartan mod form 3rdEye Tactical.

The receiver is alloy with integral 0moa weaver rail and the bolt locks in to the barrel directly, very clever. Its a switch barrel design and 2 simple allen head bolts sees the barrel out in a few minutes.

Bolt throw is 60 degrees and has 3 locking lugs and is pretty much the same bolt that you see on a Sauer.

Barrel is a fluted varmint fully floated with the action bedded on to some kind of alloy composite bedding block. Stocks were made by McMillan and its a pretty rigid bit of plastic to be blunt!

The trigger on this one is a set trigger, push the trigger blade forward for a pull weight of measured 4lb, or with the measured light weight pull of just about 2.25lbs ( a bit light for hunting perhaps).

Safety is a 3 position with forward for fire, middle for safe but bolt can be opened and rear is safe with bolt locked.

Magazine holds 5 rounds although user manual states 4 as a maximum?

All up weight is just over 9lbs/4.45Kg and balances just at the start of the fore grip cheqeuring, just light enough to hold for a fair while on standing unsupported shot, but still heavy enough for recoil not to be too much of a problem - well thats what Im hoping. Too much work on to get out this weekend but will hopefully get out early next week to get it zerod and test this new moderator.
