6 weeks ago on wednesday my bitch, i suspect hit a cow feeder needing 20 odd stitches in 2 wounds, one of which was stitched from the inside out, down to the joint, looking at it it has all but healed but now at the knuckle there seems to be a lump approx hallf the length of a finger and to touch it it doesnt seem to be sore but when ever i bend the leg slightly it causes discomfort to her? she has only been off the lead once in this time which was yesterday and she pulled up anyone any idea what this could be and how long the recovery time is? for now she is back to lead walking only for 2-3 weeks and if its still no better another trip to the vets is on the cards, thanks for any help in advance.

Try and post a picture. Could be scar tissue?? . . pressing on nerves when the joint is flexed?

i'll get a photo tonight when i've finished work although it i doubt it will be noticable in a photo? also isn't scar tissue quite tough as this seems rather squigy not quite liquidy though but soft to the touch.

Could be many things, a couple of likely ones might be where, non infected, inflammatory cells/fluid has collected and due to wound closure it hasn’t drained, this if left will organise into a more solid form, most of which will be re absorbed in time. 2nd could be, as has already mentioned, a sign of infection., is the area hot or increasingly tender? if so vets. Lastly as you mentioned scar tissue. Whatever it sounds that the dogs has a way to go to get running fit.

Good luck S
